Moving is widely known as one of life’s most stressful events. At Tropic Moving we provide a wide range of services to help in many different areas of moving. One thing we always tell our customers is that we can help with as little or as much as you need with your move. We can essentially go into your home the way it is and handle everything from there or some clients do most of it themselves but just need some help relocating the large furniture they cant do or don’t have a vehicle to move in. Either way we have pricing that is designed to fit any project as well as some specialty pricing for certain circumstances like senior moving and labor only pricing for loading and unloading rental trucks and portable storage containers. Moving
Moving is the main service we provide, the bread and butter of what we do. Out professional moving crews come with a moving truck and all of the equipment and materials our customers could need for their move. We are the one stop shop to get your move done. We primarily help with local moving but also long distance moving within the state of Florida. With our main office centrally located in Melbourne, Florida, on the Space Coast, we are uniquely positioned to reach most of Florida’s major metropolitan hubs within just hours.
Our moving service includes full disassembly and reassembly of your furniture. This includes items like beds and dining tables to ensure they are safely moved and everything is in its smallest form to stack or fit into the moving truck safely and efficiently. Missing simple disassembly can often leag to broken damaged lets or items damaging narrow hallways or entryways trying to fit them though in once piece. After getting each items into its most manageable form to move out crew will custom pad each piece fo furniture with our heavy duty, furniture pads to ensure safe transport. Once all items are taken apart and prepped we will safely load the moving truck. Many of our clients pack themselves where we arrive to move and can simply load and unload to the new home locally in the same day. We typically with push a move into a two day process when moving out of Brevard County.
Most of our local moving is done at an hourly rate. As of Summer 2026 our two man rate is $159 per hour and our three man rate is $219 per hour. This is charged for almost all of our local moves. We have a minium to get a crew out covering two horus of moving labor and an hour of local travel for a minimum charge of $477 to get a crew and moving truck out to help. A minimum means any job that take 2 hours or less of moving will fall under the min price of $477. Our pricing is charged in 15 minute increments so we just charge for the exact amount of time it takes to get someone moved. All of our crew members are employees and fully trained before being sent out on moves. We also are insured with workers compensation insurance which protects the client if someone is hurt in their home while services are being completed. Some companies, especially in Florida operate without workers compensation insurance. It is not required for smaller companies and then there are other companies that incorrectly classify their workers as 1099 independent contractors and also do not carry workers comp. When it comes to pricing some companies are charging lower hourly rates when stacking up quotes. The important thing to consider is what is the quality of the crew going to look like. Average Cost Analysis:
- Local Move (1–2 Bedroom): $477 – $795
- Local Move (3–4 Bedroom): $1,125 – $1,950
- Long-Distance / Intrastate Move: $1,950 – $4,500+
*Costs for local moves depend mainly on how much is being moved and how far. If a move is going to overflow one 26ft truck and a second truck is needed costs can jump quickly, especially for a long distance move. Senior Moving
An area we specialize in under residential moving is senior moving. Seniors are typically not moving a whole lot, on a tight budget and are being carefully managed emotionally with family. We now offer permanent senior pricing for these short moves to local assisted loving facilities. Out senior offering is under our senior pricing of a minimum for a 2 man crew of $349. This covers two hours of moving labor and getting our crew out and back from the job for the day within 30 minutes of our office. The clock for labor starts when the crew arrives and starts working and will end when the job is complete. This includes the moving truck and equipment (if needed), as well as furniture pads to wrap and protect your furniture and the crew will have some basic tools as well to help with any disassembly or reassembly. If it takes more than two hours of labor, additional time is charged at our hourly rate of $159 prorated in 15 minute increments ($39.75). If it goes at or under two hours the final price will just be the minimum of $349.

Packing
The starting point for any move is the packing. Our crew can pack as little or as much as our clients need. We can do a full “soup to nuts” packing of shoes, clothing and personal items or simply a move day, fragile item pack where we handle items like mirrors, TV’s and lamps. Our packing service is essentially charged labor and materials for how much packing is needed.
Packing is best to be quoted with an on site estimate to be able to see exactly what we are packing to estimate time to pack and packing materials. The most time consuming packing is the fragile item packing like china and stemware. This is where each item has to be individually wrapped and place in each box carefully. Compare this to packing linens or clothing where there is no wrapping needed, it can go right into a box and packs up rather quickly. All of these things our moving consultants can make an evaluation of while proving a moving estimate.
Our crews only use the highest quality packing materials when packing our customers goods. We don’t reuse boxes and ensure the highest quality by only purchasing materials through our moving supplier Smurfit Westrock Packaging Solutions. We are able to have quick supply of any type of box imaginable including for specialty items. They have a variety of solutions for mattresses, TV’s, lamps and any other household good you can think of. We have proudly been purchasing only high quality materials though them our entire 9 years in business.

Labor-Only Moving Services
We also have many clients who are using portable storage like PODS or a rental truck like UHAUL or UPACK options but need help getting everything into them. Typically these can be much more cost effective options for interstate moving and just need to get loaded up. We are able to provide a professional crew to professionally load their vehicle of container. This gives clients the control of having their items with them in a uhaul while still not having to complete the heavy lifting. May times when going with a big name van line your items change hands while in route and you can end up waiting weeks for your good sometimes when delays hit.
When our crews are helping with these types of services we still bring out all of our professional moving materials and equipment like hand trucks floor wheel dollies and floor protection for the house. The only item we cannot use is our furniture pads, as we are not unloading. We do have options to solve this dilemma though. Most companies will rent pads with the truck or container. Our crews still have tape and industrial shrink wrap to ensure all pads are used to cover and secure furniture protection. We also have what we call a “paper pad” which is a XL multi layer piece of brown padder that acts as a paper pad to cover furniture. We typically use tow of these to make up for one furniture pad and shrink wrap to prove a level of protection that in rather inexpensive and that we don’t need back.
We also have many clients moving from out of state arrive into town exhausted from the drive and overall moving process. Because they often need to return their rental truck soon after they get in, they prefer to hire a crew to handle the unloading upon arrival to get it done quickly. MOst of our uhaul unloads take between 2-3 hours to get done.
For these clients we now offer special labor pricing for our 2 hour and local travel minum. We are offering clients who don’t need to use our truck this minimum fo $349. If a move take over two hours additional time is just charged at our hourly rate of $159 an hour in 15 minute increments for whatever additional time is needed. Most 16ft POD load/unloads are completed in this as well as truck unloads. The only labor job that can take longer is loading a full 26ft Uhaul where item protection is needed as well as properly loading and stacking items in the truck can take a little longer.

Storage
Storage goes hand in hand with moving. Recently we have been seeing a lot of short term storage with clients not abel to line up their old home and new home closings perfectly. Being able to provide storage to our clients allows us to provide an comprehensive service of handling everything from A to Z. We eve offer a free month of storage for short term storage less than a month. So for clients just needing a week of storage until their new home closed they don’t have to pay anything for in between storage when using Tropic Moving.
Storage is provided in our controlled warehouse space. Items are stored in wooden “vaults” which are just large warehouse boxes that keep all items contained and clean in our warehouse. Once items are in the vaults the shipment can be easily handled in our space and makes tracking customers shipments easy as well for an efficient move out of storage as well. There are no long hallways or elevators when storing with us. Many of the new storage facilities are being built in large buildings 3+ stories high with long hallways. When unloading to one of these buildings, depending on where in the building the unit is, it can take a significantly long about of time costing you money to get to the storage unit.
Our storage is priced $80 per storage vault for standard residential shipments. It can be hard to visualize what fits in a vault. A vault is like a small “pod” container and 7ftx7ftx5ft. Typically a completely full 26ft moving truck will fill 6-7 storage vaults.
Junk Removal
Junk removal is something we naturally cross into with moving. We have clients that are moving that end up wanting to haul off some items are were happy to add on that service to the move. When we do Junk removal at Tropic Moving we are typically doing large solid item removal, not trash or debris removal. We are handling old couches, clearing out items left by tenets in apartments or rental homes as well as in real estate transactions.
Our process for Junk Removal is that our professional crews show up to load up whatever you’re getting rid of and we dispose of responsibly at the local landfill which for is is the Sarno Landfill or the Central Disposal Facility in Cocoa, Florida. That means separating dangerous chemicals and pressure treated wood to the proper area in the landfill.
We have two pricing options for Junk removal. We charge per item when adding onto a moving service of typically around $25 for small items like a nightstand or end table, to up to $100 per items for extra large items like sleeper sofas. We also will help with disposal of spas which are quoted upon request. In addition to that we have “Junk Only Pricing” where we go out specifically for junk removal jobs.
Our minimum for Junk Removal is $527. That includes dispatching a crew, one hour of loading,disposal coasts and time and labor to dump the goods. If loading takes longer than an hour, additional time is charged at our hourly rate of $159, prorated in 15 minute increments for the time needed.

1. What happens if my move takes less time than the 2-hour minimum?
Our $477 minimum for local moves (and $349 minimum for labor-only/senior moves) covers our baseline costs to dispatch a fully insured crew, a dedicated 26ft moving truck, fuel, and equipment to your door. If your move takes less than two hours of labor, you will simply be charged the minimum flat rate, there are no extra hidden fees or surprise fuel surcharges tacked on top. We only charge extra for any consumable moving materials listed like boxes, mattress bags, etc.
2. How do I know whether I need a 2-man crew or a 3-man crew?
As a general rule, 1-to-2 bedroom apartments with standard access can easily be handled by a 2-man crew ($159/hr). Homes with 3+ bedrooms, heavy specialty items, stairs, long driveways, or tight timelines benefit significantly from a 3-man crew ($219/hr). While the hourly rate for three movers is higher, a three-person team loads and unloads much faster, often resulting in a a more efficient move with less total move time and a lower final bill compared with the same job completed with a two man crew.
3. How many storage vaults will my home actually require?
A single 26ft moving truck with a moving body and over the cab attic, filled to capacity, typically holds 6 to 7 storage vaults ($80/vault/month).
As a rough guide:
- 1–2 Vaults: Studio or small 1-bedroom apartment
- 3–4 Vaults: 2-bedroom home or large apartment
- 5–7 Vaults: 3–4 bedroom home
During our free on-site or virtual estimate, our moving consultants will evaluate your exact inventory so you know your monthly storage cost down to the dollar before move day. This will all be provided in a written estimate before moving and will only change if the inventory moved changes.
4. Are my belongings insured while Tropic Moving is handling them?
Yes. Unlike many small local operations, Tropic Moving carries full liability insurance, cargo insurance, and full workers’ compensation insurance on every employee. This means both your home and your belongings are protected throughout the entire process, transport and arrival to your new home, and you are completely protected from personal liability if a worker is injured in your home or on your commercial property. A base coverage, released value protection of 60 cents per pound is provided on every move with the option to upgrade to full value protection for an additional cost. 5. Do I need to empty my dressers drawers and heavy furniture before crew arrives?
For standard wooden dressers containing lightweight clothing, you can usually leave clothes in the drawers. However, if a dresser is extremely heavy, antique, fragile, or going into storage vaults, we recommend emptying completely. Books, paperwork, jewelry, and fragile items should always be removed from drawers prior to the crew’s arrival. This helps keep the times as light as possible and as safe as possible during yout move.
