Three Tips to Make Moving Day a Breeze
Moving isn’t fun, and sometimes this is even true for professionals. From remembering to schedule movers to getting everything packed up in time, there’s a lot to keep track of before, during, and after. But there are ways that you can limit the stress and hang-ups that pop up on the day of your move. Make your life (at least on moving day) a thousand times easier with these three simple moving tips designed for home, apartment, or office!
1. Set Up Whatever You Can Before Move-In
Sure, you can’t set up everything ahead of time. Big furniture, tons of boxes, and general supplies are going to all come along on moving day. However, that doesn’t mean that you can’t put together some things ahead of time. A really important checkbox for home or office should be setting up utilities ahead of time so that you have power, water, and internet when you arrive. Trying to figure out why the water isn’t running or the power won’t turn on is not something that you want to figure out while you’re also unpacking a thousand things. Take the time ahead of moving day to ensure that everything like that will be set up by the time the movers are starting to unload.
2. Take Time Off of Work for the Move
Yes, unpacking and setting up everything on a 2-day weekend is an option, but it’s not one that we recommend. There’s nothing worse than taking a super stressful time and turning it into crunch time, too. Spending a weekend rushing to put everything into place and then also prepping for an entire work week is the best way to ensure a bad Monday back at work. Ask off from work if you can and give yourself one or two days of cushion. You’ll thank us later!
3. Schedule Moving Day ASAP
One of the best things to do is, well, working with a licensed professional mover. Not only do you get the benefit of working with responsible professionals, but you’ll also be able to guarantee being able to do another really important step: scheduling. Scheduling your moving day as soon as possible gives you the most options and lets the moving company have the greatest flexibility. Scheduling ahead of time also means that you can plan out what you need to do and deadlines to meet your move-in goals. You can also pick a good time slot. We recommend getting an earlier moving time slot so that you have time during the day to set up in the daylight.
Moving day is a dreaded, hectic, crazy day for every homeowner and business. But that doesn’t mean that it has to be. By taking tips like these to heart, you can take some of the pressure of the move off your shoulders. Need even more help?
